Dr. Randy Abbey has assumed the role of chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, tasked with reviving the fortunes of Ghana’s senior national football team.
Dr. Abbey’s appointment follows the team’s disappointing failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Morocco.
In an exclusive interview with Citi Sports, Dr. Abbey expressed confidence in his team’s ability to make a positive impact. “It’s not about me, it’s about the team that I work with,” he emphasized. “Fortunately, I have very competent members on the team, and together, we will leverage our experiences to assist the technical team and playing body.”
The Black Stars Management Committee members include Stephen Appiah, who serves as Vice Chairman and Player Relations, and is also a former Black Stars captain. Samuel Aboabire, the Chairman of the Greater Accra Football Association, brings his expertise to the table. Moses Armah, the owner and bankroller of Medeama SC, oversees operations and matchday activities. Richard Nsenkyire, the owner and bankroller of Samartex 1996, is responsible for special duties.
With a strong team in place, Dr. Abbey is optimistic about the future of the Black Stars. As he settles into his new role, expectations are high for him to deliver on his promise to turn the team’s fortunes around.
