NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Dome Kwabenya in the 2024 elections, NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Dome Kwabenya in the 2024 elections, Mike Oquaye Jnr. has refuted claims that he disrespected or insulted anyone, emphasizing that such behavior is not in his character.

He dismissed accusations that he insulted someone’s father, stating that he comes from a family of farmers and holds deep respect for elders.

He further stressed that he has never engaged in personal attacks and does not subscribe to insults as a means of political engagement.

Mike Oquaye Jnr. also denied allegations that he snubbed high-ranking officials, including the former President and Chief of Staff.

According to him, he has always prioritized the party and has never refused to meet with senior figures when called upon.

On claims that he failed to reach out to his political opponent after winning the primaries, he clarified that he made multiple attempts to establish contact.

While one of his former contenders, Madam Sheela, responded positively, he said the other refused to engage despite several efforts.

He questioned how he was expected to attend her church when she had already declined to communicate with him.

In concluding his statement, Ambassador Oquaye Jnr. reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and expressed his commitment to maintaining peace.

He stated that he would allow God to take charge of the situation while awaiting the party’s next steps.

HE WROTE:

I have been informed of a few false statements made in relation to me that I wish to debunk.

1. I have not and will never insult anyone’s father. My Paternal Grandfather is a farmer, I am myself a part time farmer. I have never and will never do that. That is not how I was brought up and those who know me, know that I eschew insults.

2. I am a very private and respectful person.

I will never snub the then President, Chief of staff or any elderly person who calls me to see them. That is the trait of disrespect and I am not like that. I have historically shown that for me it is always party first.

3. I tried on three occasions to reach out to my opponent after I won the primaries. Madam Sheela responded and we chat till today.

I was rebuffed by the other person and her special assistant Nana Dubin told me after three weeks of trying that she did not want to speak to me. How then will I have been welcome to attend her church? Just walk in?

4. For now I leave the rest of the matters to God for he will fight for me.

I will never malign the party or any individual so for now I hold my peace as I await to see what steps the party take.

Best Regards,

Amb. Mike Oquaye jnr.
