Activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor has confirmed he will appear before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on January 29 to substantiate his explosive bribery claims against the committee.
In a candid post on X (formerly Twitter), Barker-Vormawor stated, “This is how a democracy improves. I look forward to appearing before the Appointments Committee tomorrow. Thank you.”
His claims, which allege that members of the committee have been demanding bribes from ministerial nominees, have ignited intense political debate. However, committee members, particularly from the Minority, have vehemently denied the allegations.
Chairman of the Appointments Committee, Bernard Ahiafor, has dismissed the bribery accusations as “baseless,” asserting, “Neither I nor any member of this committee has engaged in such practices.”
Vetting has however resumed, as Dr Edward Omane Boamah, the Director of Elections and IT, National Democratic Congress (NDC), and Minister Designate for Defense sits before the appointment committee.
