President-elect John Dramani Mahama has announced his intention to transition into full-time farming after retiring from politics.
During a visit to his farms in Yapei and Busunu over the weekend, Mahama expressed his deep connection to agriculture, describing it as his lifelong passion and a pursuit he plans to dedicate himself to after completing his political career.
“Farming is my life. I love it. I am sure if I didn’t go into politics, I would be a full-time farmer,” Mahama stated. “In any case, when I retire after this stint, of course, I am going to go into full-time farming.”
The President-elect, who has served Ghana both as President and Vice President, highlighted his agricultural roots and affirmed his commitment to returning to them.
“If you want to see me, you will have to come here unto the farm,” he added, signaling a future away from the political spotlight and closer to the land that holds personal and cultural significance for him.
Mahama’s statement has resonated with many, drawing attention to the potential of agriculture as both a personal passion and a vital sector for Ghana’s development. His decision underscores the importance of farming in the lives of many Ghanaians and the opportunities it presents even for high-profile figures.
