Head Coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, has revealed a 23-man squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
The squad features a blend of familiar faces, with no significant surprises.
Star players such as Thomas Partey, Kudus Mohammed, Jordan Ayew, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku are all part of the lineup, as the team aims to continue their winning streak from the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams and Anderlecht’s Majeed Ashimeru make their return to the squad after missing the World Cup qualifiers in June.
They are joined by Kingsley Schindler, Joseph Painstil, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Tariq Lamptey, and Cercle Brugge’s Francis Abu, who all bring renewed energy to the team.
However, long-time captain Andre Ayew and Daniel Amartey have been left out of this selection, a move that has sparked discussions among fans and analysts.
The Black Stars will commence their AFCON qualifying journey on September 5, 2024, against Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
They will then travel to Berkane for their second match against Niger on September 9, 2024.
The players are expected to assemble on September 2 to kick-start their preparations for the crucial games ahead.
