The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has donated assorted food items to the Ghana Prisons Service Headquarters to support the feeding of inmates during Ramadan.
The donation, made on behalf of philanthropist and businessman Ibrahim Mahama, included 1,000 bags of rice, 417 boxes of sunflower cooking oil, 200 boxes of tomato paste, and 200 boxes of canned mackerel.

This initiative aligns with the Minister’s commitment to equipping and improving the efficiency of the Prisons Service.
As part of his broader support for the Service, Mr. Muntaka announced plans to distribute 50 pick-up vehicles through the Interior Ministry, with 15 allocated to the Prisons Service.

Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Patience Baffoe-Bonnie (Esq), expressed gratitude for the Minister’s assistance and highlighted the need for restoring certain operational allowances for prison officers.
She also shared strategic innovations aimed at enhancing the Service’s operations and global reputation.
The donated food items will be distributed to selected prison facilities, including Nsawam Medium Security, Ankaful Complex, Koforidua Local, Tamale Central, Sunyani Central, Amanfrom Camp, and Manhyia Local Prisons.
The Minister assured continued support for the Prisons Service, while the Director-General reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to working towards a more efficient and attractive institution.
