Ghana international Mohammed Kudus has expressed confidence and optimism in Black Stars’ 2026 FIFA World Cup group following last Friday’s draw.
The draw, held in Washington DC, placed Ghana alongside European giants England, 2022 World Cup semifinalists Croatia, and CONCACAF representative Panama — a group many analysts consider one of the most competitive in the tournament.
Despite the tough opposition, Kudus believes the Black Stars have already demonstrated their strength by securing qualification.
The Tottenham Hotspur star, who was instrumental throughout Ghana’s qualification campaign, described the team’s presence at the World Cup as a clear signal of their growing quality.
“To qualify for the World Cup alone is a big statement from us, and it shows what we can do,” Kudus noted as he reflected on the draw.
Looking ahead, he said the challenge fuels excitement within the squad. “It’ll be interesting. I’m looking forward to it. We are very much aware of the sides we will be facing. We will definitely be up for it, and we will be ready.”
Ghana will now shift focus to their preparations for the expanded 48-team mundial, as they aim to make a strong impression and reach the knockout stage for the first time since 2010, when the Black Stars famously advanced to the quarter-finals.
The team is expected to embark on early preparation, with friendly matches and training camps lined up before the competition kicks off in June 2026.
