Coach Kwasi Appiah has temporarily stepped down from his role as a member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, just days before the pivotal clash between the Black Stars and Sudan.
This decision follows a formal request from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to eliminate any potential conflicts of interest as Appiah leads the Sudanese national team into the highly anticipated 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Appiah’s spokesperson, Asante Forkuo, confirmed that the coach will be sidelining himself from his Executive Council duties until the end of November 2024, highlighting the commitment to the integrity of the game.
“Coach Kwasi Appiah has temporarily stepped aside as Executive Council member of The GFA until the end of November 2024.
In response to CAF copied GFA, he cited conflict of interest as the reason,” Forkuo stated, emphasizing Appiah’s dedication to fair play and transparency in this critical period for Ghanaian football.
