McLaren’s Lando Norris delivered a flawless performance to claim victory at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, extending his championship advantage over teammate Oscar Piastri to 24 points with just three races left in the season.
The triumph marked his second consecutive win, showcasing both his consistency and growing dominance in the title race. With this result, Norris is now almost a full race victory clear of Piastri, tightening his grip on the top spot in the Formula 1 World Championship standings.
While Norris controlled the race from start to finish, the spotlight also shone on Max Verstappen, who produced a sensational comeback after starting from the pit lane. Despite suffering an early puncture, the Red Bull driver fought his way through the field to claim a third-place finish, just behind Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli, who impressed once again with a strong drive to second.
Verstappen’s valiant effort, however, appears to have come too late in the title fight. The defending champion now trails Norris by 49 points, effectively ending his hopes of retaining the crown.
Meanwhile, Oscar Piastri endured a difficult race. The Australian was handed a 10-second penalty for causing a collision earlier in the race but still managed to finish fifth, pushing hard in the closing stages to challenge Mercedes’ George Russell, who finished just ahead of him in fourth.
As the championship heads into its final three rounds, Norris remains in pole position to capture his maiden world title, while McLaren continue to enjoy their most dominant spell of the season.
