The newly inaugurated Mahama administration has given the Lands Commission a strict directive to submit comprehensive documentation regarding all State and Public lands that have been sold, within a 14-day period, starting from January 10, 2025.
The government has also issued an immediate suspension on the sale and processing of State and Public lands, signaling a sharp change in policy on land management.
In a statement released by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, the government emphasized that the directive was issued in “utmost good faith” to protect public lands for the benefit of citizens and future generations.
The statement further clarified that all ongoing and pending transactions involving State and Public lands must halt immediately to allow for a comprehensive review.
The Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission has been tasked with submitting a detailed report of all recent and current land sales or leases to the Office of the President by January 24, 2025.
The move underscores the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability in land transactions.
