President John Dramani Mahama has issued an immediate directive to halt all transactions involving the sale, lease, or processing of state and public lands.
The move, announced on January 10, 2025, seeks to protect public lands and ensure that they are managed in the best interest of the nation and its future generations.
In a statement released by Dr. Callistus Mahama, the Secretary to the President, the directive emphasizes the need for a comprehensive review of the current management framework for state and public lands.
This action is crucial to safeguarding these resources for the collective benefit of all citizens.
As part of the directive, the Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission has been instructed to submit a detailed report on all recent and ongoing transactions involving state lands.
The report must be submitted to the Office of the President within 14 days, according to the statement.
