The Municipal Chief Executive for Kwahu South, Mr. Emmanuel Atta Ofori Snr, has expressed worry over the increasing levels of HIV cases in the municipality.
Delivering his sessional address, he stated that the municipality is confronted with many issues, extending from social services, mass education, security, sanitation and health among others.
In reference to the health report, the MCE revealed that the municipality recorded an increase of 62% in HIV cases between 2021 and 2022.
In 2022, he stated that out of a total number of 5, 567 people who got tested, 192 tested positive. Out of this number, 65 were males and 127 females. Thus, the Kwahu enclave has been marked as a high-risk area for HIV/AIDS contraction.
In his closing remarks, he urged the public to get tested to know their state of well-being and to take necessary steps and reduce the chances of spreading it.
