The Ministry of Finance is deeply saddened by the passing of its Deputy Minister and Member of Parliament for Ejisu, Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah. Dr. Kumah, aged 45, passed away on Thursday, March 7, following a brief illness, as confirmed by sources close to his family.
In a heartfelt statement issued subsequently, the Ministry expressed its condolences and honored Dr. Kumah’s significant contributions. The Ministry acknowledged Dr. Kumah’s pivotal role in spearheading reforms aimed at bolstering Ghana’s macroeconomic stability since 2021. His dedication and leadership in this regard have left a lasting impact on the nation’s financial landscape, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of working with him.
“Since January 2021, the late Dr. John Kumah has been a valued member of our Leadership Team driving reforms to restore macroeconomic stability and economic transformation.”
The Ministry extended its thoughts and prayers to Dr. Kumah’s wife, children, and family, offering support during this challenging period of loss.
“At this difficult period, we join Ghanaians and several well-wishers, who are still in shock, to pray for divine comfort for his beloved wife, children and family. May his dear and gentle soul find eternal rest in the bosom of the Lord,” the Ministry added.
