The Movement for Change has called on the government to publish the names of individuals implicated in the disappearance of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers at the port.
According to the senior communications director, Solomon Owusu, the administration must demonstrate leadership by ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.
He further stressed that ECG’s inefficiencies have led to unnecessary tariff hikes, burdening Ghanaians with increased electricity costs.
Owusu insisted that the government must act swiftly, stating, “Once they get all those responsible, they should be able to tell us who directed them. It’s a straightforward matter, and this must not take more than two weeks to bring the perpetrators to book.”
He emphasized that resolving the issue transparently is crucial to restoring public trust in the system.
Meanwhile, former Ashanti Regional Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dennis Kwakwa, has urged the government to avoid political interference and ensure an impartial investigation.
Speaking on ABC News, he defended the NPP’s decision to procure the cables, stating that it was in the best interest of Ghanaians.
He warned against politicizing the matter, cautioning that such actions often undermine the effectiveness of investigations and erode public confidence. Kwakwa emphasized that the focus should be on due process rather than political blame games.
