Member of Parliament’s Youth and Sports Committee, Lawrencia Dziwornu, has urged Ghanaians to exercise patience with Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, describing calls for his dismissal as a “knee-jerk approach.”
Despite Ghana’s 1-0 victory over Mali, which strengthened their lead at the top of Group I in the World Cup qualifiers, sections of fans and analysts remain unconvinced by Addo’s tactical approach.
Speaking exclusively to ABC News Ghana TV, the Akuapem South legislator cautioned that sacking the coach at this stage could destabilize the team. She stressed that consistency in technical direction is crucial to correcting the team’s flaws during the qualifiers.
“You don’t sack your leader in the middle of a battle. After the October international break, then we can take a decision as a country,” she noted.
Dziwornu admitted Ghana’s performance against Chad was “below average” but commended the team for their resilience in securing three points against Mali.
Otto Addo, in his second stint as Black Stars coach, has so far overseen 16 matches—winning six, drawing five, and losing five. His next assignments will be against Central African Republic (away) and Comoros (home) next month.
