In a press briefing held today, officials have revealed that in-person registration for Members of Parliament-elect will commence today, January 2, and continue until January 5, from 10 a.m. at the Visitors’ Centre on the Parliament premises.
This is in preparation for the dissolution of the 8th Parliament, the inauguration of the 9th Parliament, and the swearing-in of the President-elect.
Although online registration for MPs-elect has already been completed, in-person biometric registration remains mandatory.
In his remarks, Deputy Clerk in Parliament, Camillo Pwamang emphasized that no media house will be allowed into the chamber without completing the registration process.
“There is a reason we have beefed up security this time, and that is to ensure a smooth and successful event,” he said.
Media houses planning to cover the event must also seek accreditation in advance and complete their setup by the end of the day to report live.
