Independent presidential candidate Nana Kwame Bediako, known as Cheddar, has officially announced Dr. Maryam Esaka Kriesie as his vice presidential running mate for the upcoming 2024 election.
Bediako revealed this on social media platform X late Friday night, emphasizing his excitement about the partnership.
“I am pleased to announce that I’ll be embarking on this remarkable journey for presidency with Dr. Maryam Esaka Kriesie as my running mate, the right mate!” he stated, accompanying his announcement with hashtags #GhanaWillWorkAgain and #VoteNumber12.
Dr. Maryam Esaka Kriesie comes with a robust background in finance and academia, as detailed in a profile shared by Bediako.
She previously held the position of Senior Manager at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in Ghana, where she played a crucial role in overseeing investments, licensing capital market operators, and shaping key regulations that have enhanced the integrity and growth of Ghana’s capital markets.
In addition to her regulatory experience, Dr. Kriesie has taught at both the University of Ghana Business School and the University of Professional Studies, Accra.
An advocate for women’s rights, Dr. Kriesie is dedicated to promoting equality, particularly focusing on the economic empowerment of women across both formal and informal sectors.
She holds a PhD in Finance, an MBA, and advanced certifications in Islamic Finance and ERP software.
