A solemn burial ceremony took place on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the Forecourt of the State House for Dr. Ibrahim Muhammed Murtala, former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Alhaji Muniru Limuna Mohammed, former Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.

Both were among the eight victims of the tragic August 6 Ghana Air Force helicopter crash in the Adansi-Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

In accordance with Islamic tradition, Janazah prayers were conducted before the interment at the Military Cemetery near Burma Camp.

The ceremony was attended by high-profile dignitaries, including President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, the National Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, government officials, family members, parliamentarians, the Muslim community, and members of the public.

The nation is preparing for a state funeral honoring all eight victims of the crash, scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2025, at Black Star Square.

The tragedy claimed the lives of prominent figures including Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate, Samuel Sarpong, NDC Vice Chairman, and the helicopter’s crew members.

The crash occurred shortly after takeoff from Accra en route to Obuasi for an anti-illegal mining operation, ending in a profound loss for Ghana.
