Alfred Nii Kotey Ashie has emerged victorious as the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Odododiodioo constituency in preparation for the upcoming 2024 general elections. In the election held on Sunday, Mr. Ashie garnered 1,209 votes, securing a win over his contender, Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea, who received 952 votes out of the total 2,161 votes cast.
The election, which saw the participation of over 2,100 NDC delegates from the Odododiodioo constituency in the Greater Accra Region, initially faced a delay due to an injunction filed by disqualified parliamentary aspirant Michael Nii Yarboi Anan. However, the election proceeded after the dismissal of the interlocutory injunction application filed by Mr. Yarboi Anan.
In his address to the delegates following his victory, Mr. Kotey Ashie expressed gratitude and pledged to work towards uniting the party as they prepare for the December polls. The successful resolution of the election process underscores the resilience of the democratic procedures within the NDC and sets the stage for concerted efforts in the lead-up to the upcoming general elections.
