An international research and data firm, Fitch Solutions, has projected a victory for John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
The London-based firm, known for its consistent forecasts, revealed that 54% of respondents in a recent survey favored the former president in the December elections.
Fitch Solutions highlighted that the current economic conditions will significantly influence voter decisions on December 7.
Mike Kruiniger, Associate Director of Country Risk at Fitch Solutions, emphasized the opposition’s advantage, stating, “We believe that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has a stronger chance of winning the upcoming general elections compared to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).”
He further noted that economic management and job creation are critical issues for voters, which puts the NPP at a disadvantage due to the country’s recent economic hardships.
“Multiple surveys have shown that economic management and job creation are going to be the most important issues during the election for voters,” Kruiniger added.
