The Kusaug Peoples Congress has accused the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of politicizing the Bawku conflict to its advantage.
Speaking on ABC in the Morning, President of the group, Prof. John Azumah, alleged that the NDC has exploited the unrest in Bawku for political leverage.
“The NDC manipulated the conflict for political gains, but it has worsened under their regime,” Prof. Azumah stated firmly.
This claim follows a disturbing wave of violent incidents reportedly linked to the conflict, including the fatal shooting of the Kusasi Chief, the killing of a man in Asawase, and the shootings of three Senior High School students in Bawku and Nalerigu—all occurring within a short span of days.
These incidents have sparked widespread fear and condemnation.
To curb further escalation, the government has imposed a 2:00 PM to 6:00 AM curfew in Nalerigu and evacuated students from both Bawku SHS and Nalerigu SHS.
However, the Kusaug Peoples Congress argues that the underlying issues fueling the conflict remain unaddressed and blames the NDC for deepening the divide through political manipulation rather than fostering genuine peace.
