The New Patriotic Party (NPP) of Ghana has extended its congratulations to U.S. President Donald Trump and the Republican Party for their success in the recent U.S. general elections.
In a formal statement issued on behalf of the party, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong highlighted the “sister party” relationship between the NPP and the Republican Party, celebrating what the party sees as a shared vision between Ghana’s “elephant party” and the Republicans in the U.S.
In the statement, Frimpong praised the U.S. for conducting what he described as a landmark election, emphasizing the valuable lessons that Ghana could learn from the American democratic process.
“America has once again shown the way, and we in Ghana have some useful lessons to learn from this American example, particularly as we prepare to go to the polls on December 7, 2024,” Frimpong stated.
He added that the NPP was encouraged to see global momentum for “center-right philosophies,” which the party believes are gaining broader support worldwide.
The NPP also expressed hope that Ghana’s own center-right platform will resonate with voters in the upcoming December elections.
The statement concluded by drawing parallels between the leadership styles of President Trump and NPP’s presidential candidate, H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, noting that both leaders are focused on “bold solutions” for their respective nations.
“It is our fervent hope that just like the United States, Ghana’s ‘elephant party’ will also emerge victorious in the December polls, by the grace of God,” Frimpong said.
