The Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong, has asserted that the current government under President Nana Akufo-Addo has significantly outperformed the previous administration in road construction within the region.
Speaking at a Regional Townhall meeting in Koforidua on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, Acheampong revealed that since 2017, over 185 kilometres of roads have been completed, a figure he claims surpasses the total road development achievements of the John Dramani Mahama administration.
“The Akufo-Addo government has delivered on its promise of infrastructural development,” Acheampong emphasized.
Acheampong highlighted several key projects including the rehabilitation of the Nkawkaw-Noyem-New Abirem roads, the reconstruction of the Koforidua-Asesewa-Abourso roads, and the partial reconstruction of the Koforidua-Bonsu road.
These projects, according to the Regional Minister, have notably improved regional connectivity and economic activities by easing transportation and connecting previously isolated communities.
“Our efforts have not only made transportation easier but have also boosted economic activities,” he added.
Minister for Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, underscored the significance of the town hall meetings in promoting government accountability and transparency.
“These town hall meetings are important because they allow us to bring governance closer to the people,” she said.
