A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communications team, Louisa Kwakye, has described the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy implemented by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government as a “woeful failure.”
Speaking on ABC in the Morning, she argued that the policy, introduced in 2017, has deteriorated the quality of education in Ghana due to poor planning and inadequate funding.
Kwakye noted that the persistent challenges associated with the Free SHS program have placed a significant burden on students, parents, and teachers.
She criticized the government for ignoring calls to review the policy, which she believes could address its shortcomings.
The NDC communicator stated that a lack of strategic adjustments has strained resources and reduced the program’s effectiveness.
Her comments are part of broader critiques of the Free SHS initiative, which remains a flagship policy of the NPP but has faced scrutiny over its sustainability and execution.
