The Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) has declared six individuals wanted in connection with alleged vote buying and corruption related activities that transpired during the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primaries held in ‘orphan constituencies’. The individuals are wanted for their involvement in illegal activities during the recent NPP parliamentary election process.
Over the weekend, the NPP conduted its parliamentary election in orphan constituencies to elect new parliamentary candidates ahead of the 2024 general election.
In the course of electoral proceedings, allegations of voter inducement were rampant as some delegates displayed money they had received from candidates on television, prompting the move by the OSP to commence investigation into the situation.
“We got all this money just today because we have sacrificed for NPP”, one delegate said in an interview with reporters.
The OSP is encouraging the general public to contribute to the effort by presenting any information that may assist the investigation.
