Ghana head coach Otto Addo has expressed his resolve to maintain the Black Stars’ position at the top of Group I following their commanding 5-0 triumph over Chad in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The resounding victory at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night saw Ghana climb to first place in the group standings with 12 points, holding a two-point lead over Madagascar.
With another crucial encounter against Madagascar looming on Monday, Addo insists that his squad remains focused on consolidating their lead in the qualifiers.
“It’s always easier when you’re on top. We want to stay there,” Addo stated after the match. “We will try to do everything to beat Madagascar on Monday to keep the top spot.”
The Black Stars will now shift their attention to the must-win clash against Madagascar, scheduled to take place in Morocco on March 24. A victory in that fixture would further cement Ghana’s position as they push for a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup
