Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has condemned what he described as a resurgence of retaliatory politics and the dangerous misuse of national security institutions to settle personal scores.
Addressing concerns on ABC Morning, the Ofoase Ayirebi MP stated that the Minority’s protest yesterday was not only about Chairman Wontumi’s arrest, but about defending democratic values.
“We don’t want the politics of retaliation. We try to move away from it—but it is creeping back, and that is why it is important we all speak up,” he said.
According to the former Information Minister, the actions of the government represent a troubling pattern of using state power to intimidate political opponents.
He warned that allowing such practices to go unchallenged could destabilize the country’s democratic framework.
“Our protest is against retaliatory politics and the abuse of national security for personal vendettas,” he reiterated, calling on civil society, media, and fellow legislators to reject such undemocratic tactics.
