The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into a dramatic invasion at Metro TV’s premises in Accra on the morning of Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
Preliminary police reports indicate that officers were assisting a court bailiff to execute a court order requested by Vodacom Business (Ghana) Limited, a judgment creditor, against Metro TV.
In a statement, the police urged the station’s management and staff to remain calm and cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
The incident caused significant disruption, with live programming momentarily interrupted as about ten men, some in what appeared to be police uniforms, stormed the premises. Morning Show host Dr. Randy Abbey confronted the intruders during the live broadcast, demanding to know the purpose and authorization for their presence.
The tense exchange left both staff and viewers unsettled, as the situation escalated into a heated verbal confrontation.
Details surrounding the invasion remain unclear, including whether the men acted within the bounds of the court order. Videos of the altercation have surfaced online, adding to public scrutiny.
