Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, visited the Black Stars camp on Wednesday to offer his support and inspire the team as they prepare for their decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
With Ghana set to face Chad and Madagascar in key Group I fixtures during the March international break, the Black Stars commenced training in Accra on Monday under the guidance of head coach Otto Addo and his technical team.
President Mahama’s visit was met with a warm reception from Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku. Accompanied by Sports Minister Kofi Adams, he addressed the squad, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to their success.
“You are all talented players, and we are going to continue supporting you—not just for the World Cup qualifiers but beyond,” President Mahama assured the team. “We must build a strong squad, and that means investing in resources to bring you together regularly while also identifying young talents to develop the next generation of Black Stars.”

The President also expressed his personal excitement about the upcoming fixtures.
“I will take time off to watch the game myself, even though my heart struggles with football. They say I should eat before watching,” he said humorously. “My hope is that you justify my presence and that of all Ghanaians. The entire nation is behind you, and I believe you can make us proud.”
The Black Stars will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 PM. They will then travel to Morocco to take on Madagascar in their next qualifier.
With Ghana aiming to return to the World Cup stage, securing victories in these matches will be crucial in keeping their qualification hopes alive.
