At least six people have been killed and two others seriously injured following an armed attack on the Chenchire community near Mandari in the Bole District of the Savannah Region.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday, August 28, 2025, forced terrified residents to flee into the bush, leaving the community deserted for hours before they re-emerged to assist police.
A police statement from the Savannah Regional Headquarters said a team led by Bole Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Alex Adjeivie, was dispatched around 2:00 p.m. after reports of the assault.
Upon arrival, officers discovered six bodies scattered across the village, identified as Nyor Nyawile, 70, Nyoropor Nanii Nuuro, 55, Sachera, 71, Namii Tsipor, 80, and Kwabena Bogara, 29.
Two survivors, Sansah Sinkpe, 80, and Sansah Boonie, 43, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Bole District Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were conveyed to the Damongo Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
The Savannah Regional Police have since launched investigations to establish the cause of the attack and apprehend the perpetrators. Authorities have also assured residents of intensified patrols and security measures in the area to restore calm and prevent further violence.
