The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has extended his congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his re-election.
In a Facebook post dated December 9, Bagbin celebrated Mahama’s victory, describing it as a decisive choice by Ghanaians to revitalize the nation’s leadership.
“Ghanaians have courageously and resoundingly reset the presidency to reset the nation,” Bagbin wrote, commending the electorate for their resolve.
Bagbin also expressed his hopes for divine guidance as Mahama prepares to take on the challenges of leading the country.
“The God almighty who brought you back will be your guide at this critical time that our nation is at its lowest point,” he added.
Mahama’s victory, confirmed by the Electoral Commission (EC) on December 9, came with 6,328,397 votes (56.55%), defeating his rival Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who garnered 4,657,304 votes (41.61%).
This win also solidifies the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) dominance in Parliament, with over 160 seats confirmed, including key constituencies previously held by the NPP.
The NDC’s strong performance further enhances Mahama’s mandate as he prepares to lead the country once more.
