Former Ashanti Regional Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dennis Kwakwa, has urged the government to shift focus from political accusations and prioritize a thorough investigation into the missing Electricity Company of Ghana’s (ECG) cables scandal.
His call comes after the sector minister indicated that the matter has been referred to the Attorney General and the National Investigative Bureau, while also attributing some responsibility to the previous administration.
Speaking on ABC News’ morning show, Kwakwa stressed that the procurement of the cables by the NPP was done in the best interest of Ghanaians. He warned that politicizing the issue could hinder justice and transparency.
“It is the reason why we fail most of the time because it becomes a political matter, and at the end of the day, the public makes a decision,” he stated.
Kwakwa further urged stakeholders to ensure that due process is followed in the investigation.
“Let’s decouple such sensitive issues from politics and make sure that the minister conforms to due process,” he added.
