The Electoral Commission (EC) is calling on Ghanaians to support its efforts in ensuring credible and transparent elections, particularly in light of ongoing disputes over the re-collation and declaration of parliamentary results.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Friday, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa emphasized the importance of public cooperation in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.
Mensa highlighted that constituencies such as Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Dome Kwabenya, Ablekuma North, and Okaikwei Central were still under scrutiny due to irregularities.
She confirmed that the parliamentary results in Dome Kwabenya, Okaikwei Central, and Ablekuma North remain invalid due to allegations of threats to electoral staff and incidents of ballot paper destruction during the collation process.
“We would like to finally call on the citizens of Ghana to support us in our bid to carry out our mandate. May God bless all of you and may God bless our homeland Ghana and make her great and strong,” Mensa urged, emphasizing the shared responsibility of the public in ensuring peaceful and credible elections.
The EC has yet to announce its next steps regarding the unresolved disputes in the affected constituencies but reaffirmed its commitment to fair elections and upholding the integrity of the electoral process.
