Dr. Samuel Afriyie, a political analyst at the KNUST believes the Supreme Court’s decision is expected to have a major influence on the 2024 elections.
Speaking on ABC in the Morning, Dr Afriyie said the ruling could influence voter behavior, suggesting that the people will punish any party seen as hindering national progress.
He emphasized that the Supreme Court has the constitutional right to interpret the law, and while there’s separation of powers, checks and balances remain key in governance.
“Each party that tries to hinder the progress of the country, the people will punish you for that.”
“Supreme has the right to interpreted the constitutions. Parliament also has the right to pass bills and make laws, and soo if you are doing something, it might right tomorrow, but someone might go for interpretation today and it might be wrong. So, i believe that the Supreme Court has spoken, and i believe that the parliament, the Speaker …,” he explained.
