The Ministry of the Interior has clarified that Monday, August 4, 2025, is not a public holiday.
In a statement published on its official Facebook page, the Ministry urged the public to disregard misinformation suggesting otherwise and to treat the day as a regular working day.
It further emphasized that only statutory holidays listed by the Ministry are to be recognized and observed nationally.
According to the Ministry, the confirmed statutory public holidays for 2025 include New Year’s Day (January 1), Constitution Day (January 7), Independence Day (March 6), Good Friday (April 18), Easter Monday (April 21), Labour Day (May 1), Republic Day (July 1), Founders’ Day (September 21), Farmers’ Day (December 5), Christmas Day (December 25), and Boxing Day (December 26), along with the Islamic festivals: Eid-Ul-Fitr, Eid-Ul-Adha, and Shaqq Day.
The Ministry also clarified that commemorative days such as African Union Day are not classified as public holidays.
It urged all individuals and institutions to plan their activities accordingly and maintain normal operations on August 4.
