The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture has announced the temporary closure of Independence Square and its surrounding areas ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect John Dramani Mahama.
The closure, which begins at midnight on December 31, 2024, will remain in effect until January 8, 2025.
In a statement issued by Deputy Minister Mark Okraku Mantey, the Ministry noted that the area would be cordoned off by National Security to ensure smooth arrangements for the inauguration.
The Ministry has called on the public and tourists to comply with the directive and plan accordingly during the closure period.
