The High Court in Accra has adjourned the the motion for stay of proceedings filed by political activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor for Stay of Proceedings pending appeal to October 22.
Barker-Vormawor, who is a subject matter of prosecution for two counts of treason felony wants the court to stay its proceedings as he challenges the Court’s earlier decision at the Court of Appeal.
However, on Thursday, July 25, the Court presided over by Justice Mary Maame Ekue Yanzuh said she will adjourn the case to October in the new legal year for hearing especially also because of the absence of the jurors.
Speaking in an interview with ABC News Ghana today, Barker-Vormawor said, ” I’m not surprise about the turn of event. It is part of the process.
“The president and his team have cut a meat that is bigger than them. Unable to show up to put this case to rest.
“And they don’t have the humility to redraw the case,” Barker-Vormawor said.
Responding to questions on the next sitting, he expressed lack of confidence in the system.
“I expect nothing less from the system. We are going into our fourth year. So we are doing essentially the entirety of the mans term.”
