The flagbearer of All People’s Congress (APC), Dr. Hassan Ayariga has called upon all political parties to refrain from spreading misconceptions about the Electoral Commission (EC), emphasizing its impartiality in the electoral process.
During the Second Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) Meeting on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, Ayariga expressed his belief that the EC is not here to rig elections for any party.
He urged political players to carefully check their polling stations and constituencies, reinforcing that the EC cannot manipulate outcomes on their behalf.
Reflecting on his journey as a candidate, Ayariga shared his personal experience of entering the presidential race as a young man, now at 52, and emphasized the importance of patience in the political arena.
He firmly stated, “The EC cannot make me President; it is Ghanaians who can make me President.”
His conviction that Ghanaians will vote for him resonated strongly, as he expressed confidence that when the time comes, the EC will announce his presidency, irrespective of any skepticism.
In alignment with Ayariga’s sentiments, EC Chair Jean Mensah reiterated the Commission’s neutrality, firmly stating that it cannot elevate anyone to the presidency.
She cautioned against the spread of fake news and disinformation, urging all parties to foster a truthful narrative to protect the integrity of the electoral process and maintain trust among the citizens.
