Former Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dennis Kwakwa, has fiercely criticized the government over its release of a video purportedly clarifying issues surrounding a recent cocaine smuggling incident.
In a direct and pointed rebuke, Kwakwa described the video as “not authentic” and “meant to sway Ghanaians,” suggesting a deliberate attempt by the state to mislead the public and shield key players from accountability.
“It is quite interesting that the Minister of Information thinks he can deceive everybody,” Kwakwa said in a sharp statement to the media. “That video he is showing is just to divert suspicion.”
The footage, which was released earlier this week, shows the alleged aircraft that transported the illicit substance and scenes from its arrival. However, critics like Kwakwa argue that the material lacks context and transparency, and fails to provide the answers the Ghanaian public demands.
He further called for a full independent probe into the smuggling case and warned the government against insulting the intelligence of Ghanaians. “The people of Ghana are watching, and they have to give us that respect,” he asserted.
“Ghana is not going to be the passageway for cocaine syndicates. That is the assurance Ghanaians need from them.”
