The Vice Chair of the NPP 2024 Manifesto team and Minister of Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has boldly declared that the newly launched NPP manifesto focuses on providing bold solutions, particularly in creating jobs and supporting businesses.
Speaking in an interview with Joshua Nana Kwame Ayira on ABC Exclusive, he emphasized the urgency of addressing Ghana’s pressing issues, stating, “You can’t think around the margins, you can’t fiddle while London burns.”
He highlighted the need for a dramatic turnaround in the country’s fortunes, with the manifesto prioritizing 14 key areas to drive progress.
Amid criticisms that the NPP’s 2024 manifesto recycles ideas from previous years, Oppong Nkrumah debunked these claims, arguing that nation-building is a continuous process and that certain initiatives must be continued, improved, or departed from as needed.
“When you construct a manifesto, there are things that must be continued, especially when you are coming from two terms, trying to cross to the third. And that is not recycling,” he firmly stated.
The Minister further highlighted the community-based approach taken in crafting the manifesto, driven by the efforts of NPP Flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Bawumia’s direct engagement with market women and grassroots communities has been pivotal in shaping the party’s agenda, to the extent that he paused his campaign for a week to gather insights from ordinary Ghanaians.
This approach, Oppong Nkrumah noted, ensures that the manifesto is grounded in real issues and represents the voices of the people.
