Member of Parliament for Ejisu, Kwabena Boateng, has made a passionate appeal for bold and pragmatic leadership to tackle Ghana’s deepening crisis of electoral violence.
Reacting to the violent attacks that disrupted the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun on Friday, July 11, 2025, the MP described the incident as “a national disgrace” and “a betrayal of the democratic values we hold dear.”
In an interview on ABC News in the Morning, Boateng condemned the assault on voters, political candidates, and journalists, warning that “failure to act decisively now will only embolden political thuggery and further erode public trust in our elections.”
“We need somebody with that ‘gray hair’ to say enough is enough,” he said, underscoring the need for mature and unifying leadership in moments of national political tension.
“Without opposition, the people will get tired of the government in office. They have the mandate to rule, yes, but if out of Akwatia this country is thrown into chaos, we all lose,” Boateng added.
