Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kokuro Asiedu, has explained that the party’s decision to grant amnesty to former members is part of a broader plan to restore unity and reintegrate individuals who may have fallen out with the party.
He said the move is crucial in strengthening the NPP’s front ahead of the next general elections.
According to Asiedu, the amnesty gesture is not only about forgiveness but about creating space for reconciliation within the party’s ranks.
“We want to restore unity and reintegrate everybody,” he stressed, noting that the NPP’s ability to close ranks would determine its chances of maintaining political dominance.
He indicated that internal disunity had often provided opportunities for opponents to exploit weaknesses in the NPP.
Granting amnesty, he argued, would therefore ensure that the party consolidates its human resource base for upcoming electoral contests.
The Deputy Communications Director added that while some may view the move as a political strategy, it is ultimately intended to build inclusiveness within the NPP.
“This is the time to bring everyone back on board to help us win the elections,” he said.
