The spokesperson for youth development on the NDC committee, Anthony Julius, has warned youth involved in post-election vandalism that they will face legal consequences if caught.
He stressed that the party did not win the election to govern in isolation.
Speaking earlier on ABC News on Monday, January 13, Julius clarified that the NDC’s victory was not solely about leading the party, but about governing the entire Republic of Ghana.
He emphasized that the party’s responsibility is to serve all Ghanaians, regardless of political affiliation. Julius also stated that it is within the NDC’s remit to determine government policy, including the transition of public institutions.
He urged the public to trust President Mahama to oversee these transitions, ensuring they are carried out smoothly and in compliance with proper procedures.
“If you get yourself caught in the web any of the criminal acts you will face the law alone,” he advised.
“Indeed it is our party that has won the election, but we did not win the election to govern the party alone. We won the election to govern the Ghanaian Republic and we must deliver that service to all people.”
“Lets leave the President and his government to take charge of these transitioning activities…,” he added.
Meanwhile, Anthony Julius emphasized the need for the president to downsize the government.
He explained that the focus should be on efficiency and effective service delivery rather than the sheer number of people holding government positions.
He highlighted that the aim is to ensure those in office are capable of performing their duties and meeting the expectations of the people.
Julius added that a streamlined government would allow for better results and a more productive administration.”
