The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially presented the certified final voters register for the upcoming 2024 general election to political parties.
At a presentation held on Wednesday, November 6, the EC shared soft copies of the register, fulfilling its commitment to provide parties with the data in early November.
The EC’s Chairperson, Jean Mensa, praised the register as both “robust and credible,” emphasizing that it is designed to ensure a fair, transparent, and peaceful election on December 7.
Jean Mensa highlighted the Commission’s efforts to uphold accuracy and transparency, attributing the timely preparation of the register to thorough planning and guidance.
“We now have a robust and credible final certified voters register, which is fit to deliver a credible, transparent, fair, peaceful, and glorious election come December 7, 2024,” she stated.
She further expressed gratitude for completing this essential stage in the election process, noting that all 158 issues flagged during the re-exhibition phase of the provisional register had been fully resolved.
In accordance with their commitment to accessibility, the EC provided political parties with a template to report any issues with the provisional register, but no further concerns were raised by the parties.
During the last Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on October 15, the EC had assured stakeholders of early access to the certified register, and the November 6 delivery allows political parties ample time for review.
