Senior Lecturer and Political Scientist Mohammed Abass has urged the Speaker of Parliament; Alban Gbabin, to tread cautiously with his utterance about the Supremacy of the Law and Parliament.
Speaking on ABC in the morning, He noted the speaker’s posture while addressing the press yesterday (Wed. Oct. 6, 2024) portrays as though Parliament is above the rule of Law which according to him is Eranous.
His comment comes on the back of a speaker’s press briefing yesterday, stating that the powers of the Judiciary end where the nose of the Parliament starts.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Abbas emphasized that Parliament is threading on a dangerous path which can have a dangerous effect on our democracy.
He said, the case taken to court, is part of democracy. He stated that it is likely that there would be a walkout by the NPP Caucus in Parliament.
