The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has intensified security measures for the collation of results from four outstanding constituencies in the Eastern Region.
According to a statement released on Thursday, December 12, 2024, the collation process has been relocated to the National Police Training School in Tesano, Accra.
The police, in collaboration with the military, are ensuring a fortified security presence to guarantee the safety and smooth operation of the exercise.
The statement further indicated that the collation for one of the constituencies has already been successfully completed, leaving three still in progress.
Similar security arrangements have been made in the Ashanti and Bono East Regions, where the police are awaiting confirmation from the Electoral Commission (EC) regarding the dates for the remaining collation exercises.
Chief Inspector Priscilla Nkrumah Peprah assured the public of adequate security provisions, stating, “The police wish to ensure the public that adequate security has been provided to enable EC officials to carry out their duties without obstruction.”
The Police Service emphasized its commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the collation process to safeguard Ghana’s democratic integrity.
