The Vice President and 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed profound gratitude to members of the party’s 2024 Manifesto Subcommittee for their dedication and hard work in crafting a transformative policy document for the elections.
Dr. Bawumia hosted the subcommittee members, including chairpersons, vice chairpersons, and contributors, at his residence in Accra on Monday.
Speaking at the meeting, he praised their efforts in developing a manifesto that outlined a clear vision for Ghana’s future.
“I want to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to all of you for your dedication and hard work towards putting together such a comprehensive document, which we presented to Ghanaians,” Dr. Bawumia said.
Despite the party’s unexpected defeat in the 2024 elections, Dr. Bawumia commended the quality of the manifesto, emphasizing its enduring relevance. Reflecting on the election outcome, he highlighted voter apathy as a key factor, revealing that over two million core supporters stayed away from the polls.
“It was as if our people held a meeting across the country and decided they won’t go out to vote,” he remarked.
Dr. Bawumia assured the committee that the party would conduct a detailed analysis of the voter apathy issue and integrate the findings into its reorganization strategy to chart a stronger path forward.
“God willing, we will all benefit from this document in the future,” he said, encouraging members not to lose heart but to focus on rebuilding the party.
The meeting was chaired by Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, head of the Manifesto Committee for the 2024 Bawumia campaign.
Dr. Bawumia has also welcomed visits from various party groups in recent days, during which he has reiterated his gratitude for their support and urged them to work toward a unified and revitalized NPP capable of achieving future electoral victories.
