Ghana’s ranking on the global Corruption Perception Index (CPI) has declined, dropping from a score of 43 in 2023 to 42 in 2024, according to a report by the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII).
The report, released on February 11, highlights ongoing struggles in tackling corruption despite various policy interventions and institutional reforms.
Speaking on ABC News GH, Dr. Richard Fiadomor of the Chamber of Local Governance described the development as concerning but noted, “It is a good sign.”
He expressed hope that the Office of the Attorney General (AG) and other relevant authorities could recover looted public funds, properties and take decisive action to reduce the corruption index.
“A year is enough to change the trend,” he stated, urging stronger legal and administrative reforms to reverse Ghana’s declining anti-corruption performance.
