From Tuesday, 22nd April to Friday, 25th April 2025, the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health will embark on a comprehensive four-day tour of regional and teaching hospitals across the country.
This initiative aims to evaluate the current state of healthcare delivery, identify key challenges, and formulate actionable strategies to enhance services within Ghana’s health sector.
Members of Parliament (MPs) have been divided into three teams, each assigned specific hospitals to assess.
Team One will visit Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, Nalerigu Regional Hospital, Tamale Teaching Hospital, Tamale Regional Hospital, and Wa Regional Hospital.
Team Two will assess Damongo Regional Hospital, Techiman Regional Hospital, Sunyani Regional Hospital, and Goaso Regional Hospital.
The third team will tour Kumasi Regional Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Koforidua Regional Hospital, Ho Regional Hospital, Ho Teaching Hospital, and Greater Accra Regional Hospital.
The purpose of the tour is to examine healthcare infrastructure and the quality of service delivery at each hospital. During the visits, MPs will engage directly with health professionals and stakeholders to better understand the operational challenges faced by these institutions.
Feedback from hospital staff and management will be welcomed, and the Committee encourages active participation from stakeholders throughout the process.
David Sebastian Damoah, Director of Media Relations, emphasized that the findings from the tour will inform parliamentary oversight and guide national health policy.
The Parliamentary Select Committee on Health, which is responsible for overseeing the country’s health policies, programs, and institutions, is committed to ensuring an accessible, efficient, and responsive healthcare system for all citizens.
