The Manhyia Palace has declared a ban on all funerals across Asanteman on Thursday, August 21, 2025, to pave the way for the one-week celebration of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
The directive follows a briefing by His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to the Asanteman Council on Monday, August 11, 2025, after the passing of the revered Queen Mother on Thursday, August 7, 2025.
The one-week celebration will be held at Bogyawe, Manhyia Palace, from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m.
The ban, according to the Palace, is to ensure the King, royal family, and people of Asanteman can fully participate in the traditional rites and pay their respects to the late Queen Mother, whose life was deeply interwoven with the cultural and social fabric of the Ashanti Kingdom.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III was celebrated as a mother figure, custodian of tradition, and a unifying symbol for her people.
She played a central role in preserving Ashanti heritage and guiding the kingdom’s women.
The Palace has indicated that further details of the funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming weeks.
